Abstract
Vicky Harp grew up around computers. The daughter of a firefighter father and a mother who ran her own computer business, by high school, she was regularly competing in coding competitions. As an undergraduate at Texas A&M University, she discovered a strong interest in database systems, going so far as to become a lab assistant for database courses to help other students with homework and normalization concepts. An internship in the data warehouse group at Compaq Computer Corp. in 2000 began her career working with SQL Server.
