Abstract
By now you may be wondering why we have not introduced Oracle’s MySQL 8 database server. We first wanted to teach you techniques that work in any of the current levels of MariaDB and MySQL. For the most part, we have accomplished that task. Second, if you are happy with MariaDB or MySQL 5.7, you don’t have to install MySQL 8. You could skip this chapter and everything we have shown you will work.
