Abstract
This chapter gets you up and running. MySQL Connector/Python is introduced with an overview of the versions and APIs. The next step is to download and install the connector. Finally, it is explained how to set up MySQL Server to be ready for the examples in the rest of the book.

If you are familiar with git, it is recommended to use GitHub to get the source code because it allows you to easily switch branches, which includes older releases. However, as with PyPi , there can be a lag of the newest changes to be uploaded.
