One of the most important—if not the most important—architectural domains is that of security architecture. As a cross-cutting concern throughout the enterprise, there is likely no component, process, or interaction that does not in some way benefit from or require a certain level of security. From securing application servers to encrypting sensitive data to ensuring users can see only what they are allowed to, security architecture plays a vital part in protecting the interests of end users and system administrators alike. It’s vital to keep the broad and short strokes in mind while capturing the current security landscape, and understanding the latest requirements will allow you to enable asset protection, identity protection, systems hardening, data encryption, and other areas that everyone can benefit from.
