Abstract

Retailing is defined as the act of purchasing the products and services from manufacturers and wholesalers in large quantities and selling and renting those products and services to the individual consumer for their personal and household use.1 In the retailing industry, the goods and services can be sold to the consumers by various channels like in-store sales, online sales, through the mail, over the phone, and door-to-door sales. The retail sector is one of the largest private sector industries in the world and plays a vital role in the economy’s success. Figures from the US Census Bureau indicate that in the United States alone, retail trade revenue was over 4.7 trillion USD2 in 2015.
