File Systems

  • Cliff Wootton

The file system organizes all the components of the operating system and provides a sensible context for your applications to live in. Without the file system, you would never be able to find anything or access the peripheral interfaces by talking to the kernel and driver collection. This chapter introduces the basic file system components but you also need to read about the virtual file systems in the following few chapters.
