Abstract
The intranet/Internet medium has changed the way business is done today. Gone are the days of big rooms with file cabinets and complicated manual indexing strategies. Now you store your data electronically. What makes storing and finding data on most networks difficult is that there are usually way too many options. Organizations have a hard time getting their network community to put data in one easy to find place. Technology has had a lot to do with creating this problem. Most workstations have huge local hard drives. Most organizations still support shared drives on file servers. Not enough effort has been made to steer users into using document-handling systems such as Microsoft SharePoint, instead of dropping their files anywhere they want.
