Systems Practice Challenges

I am a systems-oriented management consultant and a teacher of corporate policy and planning. In that capacity, I have interacted with several systems scholars and management professionals who are influenced by the systems movement. I have also met scholars and professionals from management and other disciplines who, on their own, have adopted a style of thinking resembling the systems approach. My reading suggests that all these people are regularly faced with various intellectual and practical obstacles, as much as I have myself been. In this brief article, I wish to provide a rough conceptualisation of these obstacles. I will round off with a few concrete suggestions.
