Assignment of the NMR Spectra of Homologous Proteins

The assignment of resonances in the complex spectrum of a protein is still one of the bottlenecks in the application of NMR spectroscopy to the study of the structure and dynamics of protein molecules in solution. During the last few years there has been great interest in the automation of the sequential assignment procedure. It is clear from several of the papers contained in this volume that progress is being made in the automation of many aspects of the spectral-assignment process. In this paper a specific aspect of automated assignment, dealing with the assignment of the spectra of homologous proteins, will be discussed.
