Laboratory and Cyclotron Requirements for Pet Research
In a discussion such as this concerning facility configuration, it is desirable to have a common set of references to ensure that everyone is clear about what is being discussed. To this end I have chosen four categories that were formally defined by a task group on PET site and facility planning set up by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (1). It is obvious that there is really a continuum of facilities and the lines of definition are purely arbitrary. The four categories are:
