Pharmacokinetics and Effects of Neutron Capture on Melanoma Xenografts after Administration of Boronated Low Density Lipoprotein

Abstract

In this paper we confirm the retention of the physical characteristics and specific binding properties of low density lipoprotein (LDL) after extraction and reconstitution with a carborane compound. We also show that tumour uptake in vivo can be enhanced by downregulation of the LDL receptors in the liver and the adrenals, such that effective neutron capture therapy would be achievable with boronated LDL.
