Abstract

Nefopam hydrochloride (Acupan®), a centrally acting agent used for the treatment of painful conditions, is structurally and pharmacologically unrelated to other analgesics. The assay now described and validated entails solvent extraction steps and final UV measurement after HPLC under conditions that give good peaks even though the analytes are amines. The drug detection limit in plasma is 1 ng/ml.
