Caliciales, Graphidales, and Teloschistales
The Caliciales were thought to be a prime example of a monophyletic group, the main character uniting the group being the presence of a mazaedium; the loose ascospore mass, passive dispersal, and “prototunicate” asci. In comparison to the turmoil in Lecanorales, the order seems to be scarcely controversial. However, that this appears as a discrete order in the Outline has to be seen as a capitulation to our ignorance with respect to the phylogeny of the group.
