Theoretical Modeling of Er-Doped Waveguide Laser Using Time-Domain Algorithm
We have developed a simple but powerful dynamic model of Er-doped optically pumped waveguide laser using time domain algorithm. The theoretical model is based on time dependent rate equations for a quasi-two-level-system and on the equation of continuity for a gain. In this paper, the numerical calculation of pump and signal evolution versus time are presented for Er-doped Ti:LiNbO3 waveguide laser with and without etched grating. The model is flexible to accomodate other structures such as passive and active mode locking.
