Abstract
As it happens for the most part of the modern urban areas, the air pollution in Milan is mainly due to three factors: the buildings heating in winter time, the manufacturing activities and the road traffic. The District Laboratory has been measuring the SO2 emitted from these sources in the most significant urban areas (fig. 1) more than 15 years, by means of a network of automatical instruments connected with a centralized processing computer.
