Abstract

A 2-D plot describes the relationship between two variables (X,Y); the way to produce and read this kind of plot is long well established. A 3-D plot describes the relationship among three variables (X,Y,Z); the 2-D plot can be defined as a 3-D plot in the particular case of a constant value for one of the three variables. Three-dimensional plots have been pretty arduous to produce before the advent and widespread distribution of microcomputers: this limited their use and consequent knowledge on their practical reading.
