Abstract

In 1966, Lloyd introduced a model of the control of breathing (12). In our current version this model, ventilation (V) is the sum of three components; central and peripheral chemoreflex drives to ventilation (Vc and Vp, respectively), and a basal ventilatory drive (Vb) dependent on state.
