Routine Measurements of Specific Heat Capacity and Thermal Conductivity of High-Tc Superconducting Materials in the Range 4-300 K Using Modular Equipment

Abstract

The systematic and most comprehensive characterization of the samples used in researching the superconducting properties of the new ceramics is essential for the understanding of the relevant properties and for the comparison of data obtained at different times and in different laboratories. In this respect, from either a physical and an engineering point of view, the values of heat capacity and thermal conductivity are important to be measured. The paper describes two equipments that require a minimum effort in either time, competence and attendance in obtaining data with a typical accuracy —as compared to SRMs— of ± 0.1–0.5%. being modular and fully automated. Typical results, obtained in measurements of powders and bulk materials are discussed.
