Activity and Hyperactivity-Attention Deficit Disorder
Activity level is consistently featured as a primary component of infant and child temperament (Buss and Plomin, 1975, 1984; Hubert, Wachs, Peters-Martin, and Gandour, 1982; Thomas and Chess, 1977). Consequently, disorders of childhood often impact activity level. Hyperactivity is among the most common behavior disorders in childhood and has become widely studied (Barkley, 1981; Winchell, 1981; Conners, 1986).
