Urinary Tract Infection and Diabetes: Diagnosis and Treatment
From autopsy studies, it has been shown that infections of the urinary tract are 3–4 times more common in diabetic patients than in non-diabetic patients. This claim has been questioned in the controlled clinical studies of recent years in which quantitative bacterial culture from urine has been used in evaluating the results. Usually, these studies have not disclosed significant differences, but they have shown much variation in material, methods, and results. A review on these problems has been given by Vejlsgaard .
