Molecular Organic Structures
The first attempt to solve a molecular organic crystal structure quantitatively from electron diffraction intensity data was made by Rigamonti (1936), who characterized a paraffin layer packing. Because the application of electron diffraction techniques to the study of polymethylene compounds is of appreciable historical and practical importance, these results will be discussed in detail in later chapters.
