Abstract

Policy making for regulating genetically engineered organisms is fraught with uncertainty and incomplete information. Risk assessment studies useful for policy decision-making require the knowledge of multiple perspectives on the nature of risk and influence of variation in perspectives on the judgements for policy decisions. The proposed methodological approach combines Repertory grid and Social judgement analysis to examine variation in problem formulation and perspectives, and influence of this variation in decision-making in deliberate release of genetically engineered organisms.
