The Detection of Adverse Drug Reactions
An adverse drug reaction (ADR) has been defined by the World Health Organisation  as “one which is noxious, unintended and occurs at doses used in man for prophylaxis, diagnosis or therapy.” The detection of symptom side effects was discussed in chapter 16; in this section we shall consider only life-threatening events.
