Abstract

The intensity of a spectral line is determined by the concentration of atoms in the excited state i, n i and the probability of spontaneous emission to the lower level k, A ik (see Chapter 3). On the other hand, the concentration of atoms in the excited state is determined by the concentration of atoms in the ground state, as well as by the concentration and temperature of the electrons, exciting these atoms by collisions.
