México has been referred to as a land of vast extremes. This statement is not only true of its land, people, and history, but also in its mineral wealth. To the mineral collector and mineralogist, the country has been, and will continue to be, a prolific producer of outstanding specimens from what appears to be a cornucopia of mineral wealth. The great African empire-builder, Cecil Rhodes, once said, “México will one day furnish the gold, silver, and copper of the world; that from her hidden vaults, her subterranean treasure houses will come the gold, silver, copper and precious stones that will build the empires of tomorrow.”
