Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Priming of the Murine Macrophage-Like Cell Line J774A.1 for Enhanced Production of Reactive Oxygen Intermediates is Blocked by Antiserum to Murine Interferon β
Previously, we have shown that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) can prime murine macrophage-like J774A.1 cells for an enhanced production of reactive oxygen intermediates (ROI) in a dose- and time-dependent manner. The goal of this study was to determine if cytokines produced and secreted by LPS-treated J774A.1 cells were involved in priming for enhanced production of ROI. This was accomplished by neutralizing cytokine activity using specific anti-cytokine antiserum added to the LPS-treated J774A.1 cells.
