Pumped drainage

Pumped drainage will be considered where it is necessary to improve agricultural production limited by high water levels and where floods damage urban areas or prevent the development of such areas. The installation and operation of a pump involves expense comprising initial capital cost and subsequent running costs. If it is possible to obtain satisfactory water levels using natural or gravity flow, then this is likely to be cheaper on both counts.
