A sample and hold circuit has several applications in data acquisition systems. It has both analogue and digital inputs and an analogue output. When the circuit is in the sample mode, the output follows the input and the circuit behaves like an op-amp, but when the digital (control) input puts the circuit into the hold mode, the output is held constant until the sample mode is resumed.
