Organizational Project Planning

Abstract

Leadership and management go hand in hand in project planning. Project managers (PMs) juggle business drivers, team performance, and organizational priorities in order to successfully implement information technology projects. The project manager also needs to optimize the team’s technical competence, understand human resource management, and use the team’s place in the organizational structure to its advantage. Sometimes, the focus is solely on implementing the technology, just one piece of the implementation picture. Not only does the PM manage the project team but also the project stakeholders (project sponsors, users, support staff and suppliers) and their expectations.
