To invest successfully, folklore has it, you must first define your goals and then fashion an investment strategy to achieve them. But what are we to make of this? Most people have no specific goals other than a vague wish to get as rich as possible, as soon as possible. And in the process they try to emulate the comedian/philosopher Will Rogers by buying a stock and selling it when the price goes up. (And if the price goes down? Then they don’t buy it.)
