Managing the Altered Organization
Remember “After the Ball Is Over,” the song from Show Boat? Well, what do we do when the music stops? Eventually all of our “how to” implementation concerns will be over, and our new health informatics system will be operational. If the system is a significant one, the organization will be affected as shown in Figure 19.1. As the health informatics projects are successfully implemented within an organization, the organization itself is altered. This, in turn, means that successful management of this “altered” organization may require different attitudes, controls, procedures, policies, and so forth.
