If we look at a linear program in standard form,
$$\left\{ \begin{gathered}Ax = b\quad x \geqslant 0 \hfill \\cx = z\quad (Max) \hfill \\\end{gathered} \right.$$
we can see it is made of:
  1. 1.

    A system of linear equations Ax = b (we also say a “linear system”).

  2. 2.

    A set of nonnegativity constraints on the variables x ≥ 0.

  3. 3.

    An objective function cx = z, which we try to make maximum.
