The Red Eye

  • Dana W. Peterson

Abstract

One of the most frequently encountered ocular complaints in the primary care setting is that of a red eye. Most often the cause presents minimal danger to vision, but it is important to recognize serious, vision-threatening pathologic states. Usually the cause can be determined through a focused history and examination performed in the office with relatively few instruments.
