Abstract

The term plastic pertains to “form,” and plastic surgery concerns itself with correction of deformities resulting from trauma, disease, or congenital defects as well as physical alterations from growth, development, and the aging process. The techniques established by plastic surgery are most often applied to the reconstruction of defects of skin and soft tissue.1
