Applications of First-Order Equations

In this chapter we will look at several applications of first-order differential equations. There are many of these that could be studied, but we will concentrate on those that can be described by linear differential equations or by separable differential equations. There are applications whose differential equations are first-order and which fall into each of the classifications that we saw in the last chapter. These two kinds of applications are chosen because the applications are interesting and useful, and the differential equations can usually be solved with a minimum of difficulty, especially since we have Mathematica to do the rather complicated integrations that may be necessary.
