Recommending vitrectomy, like any surgical procedure, requires that the probable results of the vitrectomy are better than other forms of treatment or the natural course of the disease. To better predict the results of vitrectomy for diabetic retinopathy complications, various previtrectomy findings were compared with the 6 month visual results.
