Abstract

Ocular hydrodynamics during vitrectomies because of its particular conditions are completely different from the physiological. The main differences are due to the fact that there is a forced infusion, so the inflow is exclusively conditioned by the source of pressure, by the dimension of the inflow tube, by intraocular pressure and by positive or negative resistance to the outflow. Therefore, outflow depends on the levels of suction applied by the I/A machines, on the average section of the outlet tubes, on the leakage of the sclerotomies and on intraocular pressure.
