Immunocomputing Systems: Architecture and Implementation

  • Chapter
Immunocomputing

Abstract

In this section we discuss the concept of an immunocomputer (ICr) as a computer “hard wired” to implement immunocomputing (IC), i.e., utilizing a computational approach that reflects the principles of information processing executed by proteins and immune networks. The main purpose of the ICr is to perform high-throughput computing according to the IC approach in a parallel and distributed manner, as in the natural immune system. In previous chapters we have developed a proper mathematical basis for the ICr by introducing the notions FP and FIN. The need for these notions is prompted by the very specific objects and interactions of immune networks, which are remarkably different from those of genetic algorithms, cellular automata, ANN, and intelligent agents.
