EMC Filter Design

Traditional filter design is complex. The maximum pass band ripple allowed, the roll off required, and the minimum loss in the stop band all must be considered. There are various standard filter types with linear phase, faster roll off, etc. Once it is decided which of the standard filter types is desired, the realizablility of the filter must be considered, and after all this, then we can start to assign values to the components of the filter. While these traditional filters are necessary in many applications, such as radio receivers, they are typically more complex than the real-world EMC application requires.
