Abstract
The function of this book is to provide users of statistics with a view of the discipline that reflects their interests—an application perspective. There are, however, at least three other ways in which statisticians look at their discipline. There is the philosophical perspective, which is concerned with the logical structure of statistics and the purpose it serves; the mathematical perspective, which views Statistics from its mathematical foundation and the mathematical building blocks used in statistical theory; and the methodological perspective, which partitions Statistics according to types of statistical methods.
