Mistaken Identity: P Values in Epidemiology

On the eve of one of his battle campaigns, the emperor Napoleon took the time one evening to make an unannounced, personal inspection of his army. During this inspection, while he walked from unit to unit, he came across a guard who had fallen asleep at his post. The leader shook the dozing soldier awake, demanding to know his name so that the guard could be officially reprimanded. The guard replied smartly, “Sir, my name is Napoleon”, to which the enraged emperor replied “Sir, either change your character or change your name!”
