Part of the Applied Optimization book series (APOP, volume 42)

In every problem related to any aspect of technological and industrial development, three main steps are involved:
  1. 1.

Mathematical modelling of the physical phenomenon under consideration.

  2. 2.

Discretization of the model into a discrete algebraic form amenable to numerical solutions. In other words, writing the model in an appropriate from which can be written in a language acceptable to computers.

  3. 3.

Evaluation of the programme by the computer and visualization of the result on the monitor and subsequent realization and interpretation.
