Abstract
The world is filled with changes. An awareness of these changes can help people to avoid unnecessary losses and to harness beneficial transitions. In many practical situations a statistician is faced with the problem of detecting the number of change points or jumps and their locations. This is known as the change point problem, and its impact may be seen in a large number of practical problems from many disciplines.
