As studied in the previous chapter, kinematic analyses are concerned with the description of time-dependent aspects of motion in terms of displacement, velocity, and acceleration without dealing with the factors causing the motion. The field of kinetics, on the other hand, is based on kinematics and incorporates into the analysis the effects of forces that cause the motion.
