Analysis of Censored Data: Survival Trees
We elucidated in Chapter 4 the usefulness of the recursive partitioning technique for the analysis of binary outcomes. Not only can this technique be extended to the analysis of censored data, but also, as pointed out by Gordon and Olshen (1985), tree-based regression is applicable to more general situations than that of the proportion hazard regression described previously. As a matter of fact, the most popular use of the tree-based methods is in the area of survival analysis.
