Abstract
The endocrine system governs the metabolic activities of the body, affects tissue growth, regulates the functioning of many organ systems, and influences behavior and cognition. Because the endocrine system is involved in an extraordinary range of physiologic processes, it is important to consider an endocrine disorder in most clinical situations, especially when a patient presents with vague multisystem complaints.
