The schedule of births, deaths, and emigration/immigration is known as the life history of a species. In addition to looking at the effect of the life history on the dynamics of a population, we can also ask how this life history arose. You are probably already familiar with plants and animals having wildly different life histories — some species are much longer lived and reproduce many more times than others.
