Abstract

Although health care has made astonishing gains in adopting advanced medical technology, the concern over accelerating costs has created a new imperative: treat more people at less cost. We are now in the fourth decade of the use of computers in the healthcare setting, and the need for more powerful and comprehensive systems for improved information management has never been more clear.
