Nursing research is a method by which nursing knowledge is generated, tested, and validated. Nursing research helps to answer nursing questions ultimately related to improved patient care. This chapter describes what research is being conducted in nursing informatics to answer nursing questions. Recommendations for a national research agenda are derived from several sources.
