Personal Effects on the Change Makers
During the planning and implementation of a major information system, all system implementers and system champions experience personal change. For some the experience is a positive one—a sense of excitement capped by the thrill of victory. Others experience the agony of defeat—even if only an interim one. For these people, the change process often takes a personal toll and may cause the person to reassess his or her values and career/life directions. In some cases, the same person may experience both outcomes almost simultaneously. This chapter focuses on the change agent as he or she deals with these realities of information systems implementation while trying to maintain a life balance and perspective.
